Travelling during recession is considered a bad idea as gas prices and available income is scarce. But for those who still wanted to see the country in a road trip, a better and cheaper alternative would be to use the train. Driving is never a requirement and you’ll get to see the country without having to be concerned where to sleep for the night.

In the US the best way to start your road trip would be in New York or more particularly in their Pennsylvania Station. The Amtrak Cardinal leaves early the morning as it will go through cross country travel reaching Chicago, Denver, Nevada and California. The trip would take almost a week and along the way, you’ll meet different persons as they travel from one city to another.

The amenities in trains are simple but could cater to your modern needs. Although internet connectivity is rare, you can still use your phone and recharge them.

Iceland folks celebrate a lot during the summer. In June they celebrate the Seafarer’s Day focused on the life of their seafarers and that means you’d be seeing lots of open-sea related exhibits of different sort. Enjoy a vast variety of seafood too and take a look at some of their most interesting old ships exhibited in their harbour.

It’s celebrated in Iceland’s capital which is Reykjavik. They call this festival as Sjomannadagur which is translated to Seafarers’ Day!

Berlin is one of the hottest European cities to visit especially during the summer season. Why? Because its many tourist attractions here are really worth your trip. Some of these sites are actually free admittance so you can come and enjoy without paying a buck. These sites include the Reichstag Parliament as well as the Potsdamer Platz.

When you are in Berlin, make sure to visit the Brandenburg Gate, the Berlin Wall as well as the Checkpoint Charlie. Make sure you try the German cuisines as well and enjoy the taste of the Berliners. They like curry and onions but they also like sweets such as a policeman’s favorite- the donuts!

Berlin is really a great place to visit during summer which starts on June and ends in late August. Here the streets come alive with their gardens and parks where you can sit down, sip some coffee and just relax.

It’s for a sophisticated getaway where you get to enjoy nightclubs and cabarets and many more. You can check out the various museums and enjoy a bit of sightseeing here and there. By August, which is the last month of summer, you could check out Potsdam’s view where the fortresses are lit up with beautiful lighting.

A very interesting city to visit in Africa is Lagos. A very big city in Nigeria, it is considered the center for business as many multi-national corporations have set-up their offices here.

But aside from being a business district, it has gems that could entertain any tourist in any given season. The city has five beaches – all accessible to tourists in the city. Highly recommended is the Tarkwa Bay. There you will experience not only the beautiful beach but native cuisines set up near the shores.

Lagos is very popular for its bars and clubs. Many considered Lagos as a 24-hour party city as the clubs do not end their music until the wee hours in the morning. Many pubs in the city do not even close. The clubs often feature Afrobeat, Afro Hip-Hop (which started in Lagos) and techno music. Most clubs are a little bit expensive but the pubs could be the better alternative if you want to save.

In Fifth avenue, there are different events that are being held. Last May 22, they held the Objects of Desire while on May 23rd they celebrated the Memorial day with a pre-summer sale on the shops and boutiques on the avenue. Then, on June 11th there will be a night of Jammin’ as you get to enjoy live music and entertainment at Fifth Avenue’s sidewalks. It’ll surely be a lot of fun!

The Cozumel Carnival is Mexico’s version of Mardi Gras Festival. The people of Cozumel celebrate their festival 3 days before Ash Wednesday and they celebrate it with a bang.

It’s one wild carnival and many tourists come here to experience the party. It’s fun and very entertaining that you just can’t help yourself from dancing. You’ll hear the drums from far away and as you get closer, your excitement will just be too overpowering as you hear the drums beat louder and louder. They play different types of music all at the same time depending on where you are as different bands play along the whole time.
