The Trevi Fountain is the largest fountain in Rome. It is so magnificent that people who have seen it are left in awe with this beautiful fountain. The Fountain of Trevi is found at the end of the Aqua Virgo which was constructed in 19 BC.
The Fountain of Trevi was constructed in 1732 when Pope Clement XII instructed Nicola Salvi to create a magnificent and large fountain at the square of Trevi. After 30 years, this magnificent fountain designed and constructed by Salvi was finished.
A lot of people believe that tossing coins in this fountain will assure you that you will return to Rome again in the future. There are different beliefs with this but they say that when you toss the coin over your shoulder while standing on your back over the fountain is the right way to do it. Also, tossing 3 coins in it will determine your love life as well.
Thanks to this belief, they would gather enough coins to help the needy in Rome.
The Fountain of Trevi can be seen in some films such as in the 1954 movie the Tree Coins in the Fountain. It can also be seen in a music video by Bon Jovi entitled Thank You for Loving Me. It`s also in the Lizzie McGuire Movie and in other movies.
The Fountain of Trevi continues to mesmerise anyone who sees it. In hundreds of years since it was completed, it had been restored to maintain its full glory. The last restoration was in 1998.
