Berlin Christmas Market

There are many Christmas markets in Germany: more than 50 to give a ballpark estimate, and they all provide their visitors with the perfect “winter magic”. The main Christmas market in Berlin, however, has more of a contemporary feel than the others that are found during the season across the rest of the country.

All of the markets together offer an enormous range of handicrafts, nativity scenes, food, drink, ice skating, and more. Most of the Christmas markets in Berlin this year will also open around the 24th of November and close around January 1.

For the second year, there will be a Christmas market held by Charlottenburg Castle, which will feature the Biedermeier period. Visitors will get to enjoy historic carriage rides, special lighting that features the era from 1815 to 1848, and themed exhibits are also set up in the palace itself.

WeihnachtsZauber on Gendarmenmarkt is yet another one of Berlin’s classic Christmas markets that is worth a visit. This is one of the city’s more beautiful squares and makes an exquisite setting for the market.

The United States, France, and Great Britain embassies even have a Christmas market in Berlin that will be set up again this year. This market features the Christmas customs of each country and will be opening between two markets set up at the Brandenburg Gate.

In the Sony Centre and the Potsdamer Platz, visitors will find a Christmas market that beats with ‘Winter Magic’. It is located on the 4,000 square meter event area at the Sony Centre, and within the area is “Boccia on Ice” where adults can enjoy skating while the children enjoy the Legoland Discovery Centre next door.

Flight + hotel in Berlin starts from £222.
