On the East Bank of the Nile you can visit the Temple of Luxor built by Amenophis III. In front of the temple you can find a dromo which is a street built of stone, used in processions.

Another point worth visiting is the oldest mosque in Luxor – El-Mekashkesh Mosque which is also a popular pilgrimage spot.
On the Nile Corniche you will find the Mummification Museum (sounds dry but in fact you will find out a lot of juicy facts). Also don’t forget to visit the Temple of Karnak and stay until late evening, to see The Sound and Light Show. The show starts with a historical introduction explaining the birth of the Thebes and the building of the Karnak Temple. Every day of the week there are several shows in more languages, so make sure you attend the appropriate one because it would be a shame not to understand. The entrance fee is about LE33 which is around £4.
