Ankara is beautiful tourist destination in Turkey because of its historical structures, the chilly weather and because it is near Istanbul (flights+hotel for 2 from £500). Most tourists visit Ankara for a day or two after they have toured Istanbul as the 2nd largest city in the country is barely 30 kilometers north of the capital. Ankara is also an important city in the country as most of the administrative offices in the country are found here.

The historical structures in the city are usually museums and temples that showed the early civilization of Ankara. The most prominent structure is the citadel wherein inside the walls you can find a small Turkish village. The gives you a great view of the city including its structures such as the Atakule Tower, Kocatepe, Anıtkabir and different museums.

But Ankara is not all about the structures and administrative offices. The nightlife is also impressive in Ankara especially near the city’s citadel. Most bars and clubs are open until four in the morning which will give you a lot of time to visit most bars and clubs in one night.

Food is also remarkable in Ankara. There a good number of kebab restaurants that doesn’t only offer authentic food but also authentic music and atmosphere. Although finding a very affordable place to eat is a little bit challenging, this is highly expected from a tourist destination. But the money you spend on food, the nightlife and the museums are all worth it. Ankara is a unique city with beautiful structures and remarkable natural conditions.
