High in Amsterdam with low hostel prices

Amsterdam is one of the most popular cities in the world. Because of its popularity, the hotel room rates are a little bit steep anywhere in the city. But you don’t just fly to Amsterdam and stay there for one or two days to save on accommodation. To better appreciate Amsterdam, stay for at least a week and see all the sights and sounds and appreciate what Amsterdam has to offer.

A good way to save money on accommodation is to stay in hostels. These hostels are “mini-hotels” wherein you share a room with two or more people who are also staying in the city for a couple of days for vacation. The price is considerably cheaper compared to hotels and if you’re not picky, you get to have the basic amenities that you need – a good bed to sleep and a secured area. We have found rooms in hostels around Amsterdam from 10 EUR per night for a shared room.

There are two types of hostels in Amsterdam and across Europe. The first type is the hostels registered with IYHF or International Youth Hostel Federation. All hostels that are members of this organization have strict rules on what the hostel will look like and the amenities it offers. If you are planning to stay in Europe for more than two weeks, better register in IYHF as soon as possible to get discounts in IYHF sanctioned hotels.

If you want to have something fancier in terms of designs and a little leniency on the rules, consider those who are not recognized by IYHF. They services are still the same except that they are not regulated by the government. It might be more expensive or even cheaper but you will enjoy your stay because of the additional amenities

  1. It is very important that you find the actual trend not what you ” think ” is Amsterdam.
