You should also note that most stores will take US dollars without having to exchange them.

If you do choose to exchange your US dollars for Bajan dollars, then remember that the hotel that you are staying at might insist on taking a percentage of the money that it exchanges. Normally it is about 5%, but it changes from place to place.

There are a lot of duty free shops in Barbados as well. You will find these kinds of stores on cruise ships that leave from Barbados (or that are heading there), but there are some duty free jewelry shops in Barbados as well, meaning that this could be a great place to pick up some jewelry. There is also a small mall at the harbour of Barbados. There you can pick up a good selection of products and pay less. Although this is a fun place to shop, keep in mind that prices there are going to be higher than anywhere else in Barbados. Sometimes it’s best to shop around when you go to this area. It can save you a lot of money.
