Rich attractions and cheap accommodation in Antwerp

Go to Antwerp, Belgium to get away from the life in your city and  do your Christmas shopping.

You can also spend an afternoon in the Antwerp Zoo, one of the oldest in the world (but don’t expect to see living dinosaurs; “oldest” has a limit though); you  will have to pay 17.50 EUR for a dayticket for an adult and less for children.

Visit Rubens House, home of the great painter. If you happen to be in the city on the last Wednesday of each month, there is a free access to the museum. Otherwise you have to pay 6 EUR for a ticket.

Explore the Diamond Quarter where you can admire the work of well-known diamond cutters. Have a drink in Grote Markt, right in the heart of the old city. 85% of the rough diamonds in the world are traded here. You can find more than 350 workshops and more than 12,000 expert cutters who work in the Diamond Quarter. The business in this area is supervised by Antwerp’s Diamond High Council. Window shopping and dreaming to have a diamond won’t cost you anything.

December comes with a lot of joy and attractions in Antwerp: a giant Christmas tree in Grote Markt, Handschoenmarkt, and Koningin Astridplein.

Ice skating for adults and toddlers alike. Starting on December 26th and lasting until January 4th there will be the winter fair with a merry-go-round, caterpillar, swing, mirror labyrinth, swing boat, cakewalk, whirligig  and so much more spread around a playground of over 2,500 square meters.

There are also other events that will take place, such as fireworks to celebrate the New Year on December 31st, a Christmas tree bonfire on January 10th, and a New Year’s drink on January 11th. Enjoy your stay in Antwerp!
