Many of the popular fast food restaurants chains with global recognition are based in North America. But even with this trend, there are a few restaurants that consistently grow in number even though they are based elsewhere. The following are some popular fast food restaurants that did not start in North America.
Giraffas in Brazil
Giraffas recently opened this first US branch in Miami. But the popular restaurant chain has been one of the top restaurants in Brazil since the 80s. It’s your typical fast food restaurant and they are often compared to other fast food restaurant because of their similar food preparation and service.
Mr. Lee in China
Formerly known as California Beef Noodle King U.S.A., the restaurant chain first opened its doors to its customers in 1988. It’s a very popular restaurant in China and often compared to KFC because it features the head of Mr. Lee much like Colonel Sanders. It’s known for their original Chinese recipes.
Nordsee in Germany
Nordsee is a very popular restaurant chain in Europe because of its unique line of entrees. Nordsee is a fast food chain that specializes in seafood. Aside from setting up different branches in Europe, the restaurant chain also has branches in Middle East. Nordsee is expanding rapidly in the Middle East as they are planning to open another 150 branches. We would recommend trying the cuisine on a trip to Germany.
Toast Box in Singapore
Toast Box is part of BreadTalk in Singapore and the restaurant chain is often located adjacent to BreadTalk. Toast Box is a well known dining place because of their local coffee and tea flavors with a wide variety of options for snacks.

I can say that Nordsee is a visit worth when you go to Holland or Germany. The fish (and other seafood) is always very fresh and for lunch as a quick away snack, it is brilliant to have a sandwich with Mackerel or Prawn!
