Ways to save when travelling in Europe

Many people are thinking that travelling to Europe* could be out of the question this year, especially those from the USA. The good news is that there are tons of ways that you can travel to Europe and save your hard earned cash. This goes for people all over the world.

Tip number one, be sure to forget about renting a car. Instead, opt to use the main different forms of public transportation in Europe. You may even want to think about getting a rail pass. This is a great way to save. Of course, this is just the start of it.

Next, if you find yourself with no euro, then be sure to hit up one of the local ATM’s. You are going to get the best exchange rate when using the ATM, opposed to the other ways to convert your money. Not only that, but remember that Europe is full of low to no cost entertainment to be a part of. In fact, there are many days when you can visit the local museums for free or see a free public concert. Many people travelling to Europe also like to make lunch their “big” meal. That is because you are going to find a lot of the same dishes that are full price at dinner, half price at lunch. Also, do not be afraid to ask locals where the authentic restaurants are. These tend to be less expensive.

So just because you are low on funds, does not mean that you can not travel to Europe for your next vacation. Just follow some of these tips, and you will see that there are tons of ways to travel for less!

  1. Indeed it’s not impossible to travel relatively cheaply within Europe. There are some great ways to get around…including walking! My wife and I walked 30 days from the French border to the west coast of Spain on around 2 euros a kilometer.
