Reasons to visit Salamanca

People travel to Salamanca, Spain for very different reasons. Many come here to learn to speak Spanish because in Salamanca you’ll find that people actually speak the purest form of Spanish, the Castilian.

Salamanca is a city but you’ll really feel that it is quite intimate compared to other bigger cities around the world. You’d see the people here know each other and they usually gather in Plaza Mayor. Just like what they say, if you want to find someone, just wait in Plaza Mayor.

If you want to travel here for leisure, the best time to go is during their festivals. From February to August they are celebrating various things although usually the festivals are religious-related as people here are devoted Christians.

The best time to travel though is June where they have 4 days of festivities celebrating Salamanca’s own patron saint St. John Sahaguin. On September they have a traditional pilgrimage and their streets become very busy with pilgrims. By October they also celebrate the feast for St. Teresa by the 15th of October.

If you happen to be in Salamanca, it is suggested that you drop by the nearby Barcelona and experience a wonderful trip to a very romantic city. It’s just nearby so you would get to enjoy a different atmosphere in just a short drive.
