Rail trip – cheaper and without stress

Travelling during recession is considered a bad idea as gas prices and available income is scarce. But for those who still wanted to see the country in a road trip, a better and cheaper alternative would be to use the train. Driving is never a requirement and you’ll get to see the country without having to be concerned where to sleep for the night.

The Amtrak Cardinal leaves early the morning from Pennsylvania Station  and  it will go through cross country travel reaching Chicago, Denver, Nevada and California. The trip would take almost a week and along the way, you’ll meet different persons as they travel from one city to another.

The amenities in trains are simple but could cater to your modern needs. Although internet connectivity is rare, you can still use your phone and recharge it.

Of course, this also goes the same with your laptop. The food should be more than enough for your daily fill. Expect layovers (waiting time) in different cities which is your chance to visit different places or just enjoy the station while waiting for your train.

If you’re in Europe, traveling by train is very common. On the other hand, if you wanted to challenge yourself for a cultural journey like no other, consider going to India as well as China. Traveling in these countries by train will really test your ability to adapt to new cultures.
