Turkey, where Europe meets the Middle East

Perhaps it is Turkey’s immense size that has kept prices so low in comparison to other Mediterranean destinations, however it should not be seen as any of the popular tourist destinations’ poor cousin. Culturally, historically and as far as tourist attractions and beaches are concerned, Turkey has just as much to offer as any north African or southern European country.

As regards to historical and cultural sites to be visited, the geographical area that is now Turkey has monuments and antiquities that date back 4000 years, ranging from ancient Greek temples, Roman markets, Orthodox churches and monasteries to intricate mosques. The country also maintains a Middle Eastern mystique with its bazzars and covered marketplaces, where haggling is still the norm.

For the more fun loving tourist, Turkey has a very long and winding coastline, with little hidden coves and sandy beaches, all within close distance to the various hotel complexes or the rooms to let in little coastline villages. The restaurants feature exotic spicy dishes and very friendly atmospheres and nightclubs and bars can be found that will appeal to your more traditional western tastes.

But the best part of it is the price. Somehow, Turkey has escaped the price increase one finds in most tourist destinations, despite its recent advertising campaigns, probably because there are so many places one can choose from, and it has not yet become overrun by tourists. Book a ticket before everyone finds out!
